In order to be able to simulate operational conditions of a cement kiln, another rotary kiln for preheating rawmix up to 800C was also constructed. Rawmeal was stored in a silo and fed into the preheating kiln with vibrating mechanism.

The rotary kiln was equipped with an RDF (Refused Derived Fuel) feeding mechanism. Feeding rate was adjustable by a frequency inverter which is driving the motor of screw feeder. The add on limiting quantity of RDF as supplementary fuel into the kiln volume was searched for. By using this lab scale rotary kiln, alternative additives are being analyzed.
